Until now solar panels integrated into an electric vehicle were just not worth the time nor expense. But with recent advancement in solar technology, Elon Musk pushed his engineers to make solar recharging feasible. A solar panel is layered into the truck bed cover on the cybertruck as an option.
The patent for the truck bed cover reads as follows “A truck bed cover integrated in a vehicle (e.g., a truck), configured to move through an opening formed between a cab and a truck bed, and along a set of channels on the truck bed. The vehicle includes a motor engaged with the truck bed cover and configured to enable an automated movement of the truck bed cover along the set of channels. The vehicle in one embodiment is an electric truck configured to run off a battery pack stored within the electric truck. The truck bed cover includes a plurality of movable portions, the plurality of movable portions linked together in a flexible format”
Battery Performance
The Tesla Truck will have a structural battery pack. Together with the company’s 4680 cells and megacasted parts, Tesla’s integrated battery system is expected to improve its vehicles’ mass and range significantly. Elon Musk noted that a structural battery pack could provide a 10% mass reduction and an opportunity for a 12% range increase for its vehicles. Depending on the model and motors installed, the Cybertruck will have mile range from 250 – 500 miles. Every cybertruck model will have a 250kW charging cable. All trucks will have access to Tesla’s vast network of Superchargers
Electric Motors
The Tesla CyberTruck has 3 options for motors. While the single-motor truck has rear-wheel drive, the two- and three-motor models have all-wheel drive. The single motor cybertruck will go from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and top out at 110 mph. The dual-motor cybertruck will reach 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and have a top speed of 120 mph. The three-motor model accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph.
Drivetrain Capacities
Tesla Cybertrucks have an adjustable air suspension that can be raised or lowered on the fly and provides up to 16 inches of ground clearance. The truck can tackle 35-degree approach and 28-degree departure angles. The Tesla pickup is made for offroad applications.
The single have a maximum tow rating of 7500 pounds. The dual motor 10,000 pounds, and three motor models will be able to pull 14,000 pounds. That is more than most gas guzzling American trucks like the Silverado. Every Cybertruck can also haul 3500 pounds in its 6 1/2 foot cargo bed.

Every truck model will have a big 17-inch touchscreen that is horizontally mounted in the center of the slab-like dashboard.
Every cybertruck will feature Tesla’s self-driving Autopilot feature. There will be a Full Self-Driving option for $7000.
